Callum Parslow, a white supremacist who stabbed an asylum seeker in a hotel, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for “undoubtedly a terrorist attack”. During the trial, Parslow claimed he travelled to the Pear Tree Inn at Smite near Worcester to stab “one of the Channel migrants” because he was “angry and frustrated.” Nahom Hagos, the Eritrean national asylum seeker, was staying at the hotel and had returned to borrow a bicycle when the attack took place. Parslow was given a minimum term of 22 years and eight months for attempted murder at Woolwich Crown Court.
The judge at the sentencing, Mr Justice Dove, said that Parslow’s attack on Mr Hagos was motivated by his adoption of an “extreme right-wing mindset, which fuels your warped, violent, and racist opinions.” The judge added that a life sentence was the only suitable punishment for Parslow, who is considered a high risk of serious harm to members of the public for further violent offences.
