Brother Jozsef Huszti has revealed that his sisters, Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, who have been missing since 7th January, had not informed their family that they planned to leave their rented flat in Aberdeen. The sisters – part of a set of triplets and originally from Hungary – had been living in Scotland for around a decade and were saving to buy their own home. Searches for them have focused around the River Dee. Police Scotland has confirmed it is a missing persons inquiry, rather than a criminal investigation, and is reportedly considering the hypothesis that the sisters may have entered the water in the River Dee area.
The Haworth Show home, by Redrow Homes, in Lancashire, has had to be cordoned off as some brickwork has become detached during high winds. The house has been fixed to foundations with a ring beam, which is held in place with straps attached to the wall. It is believed that gale force winds caused these straps to snap, leaving a section of brickwork dangling dangerously off the roof. A neighbour said: “the whole brickwork was shaking in the wind” but no one was hurt when the unstable section eventually gave way.
Home sales in prime central London have reached their highest level since 2006, according to the latest research by estate agent, Strutt & Parker. Since the Brexit vote of 2016, the number of transactions has increased by 37%. The market is being driven by family homes, frequently worth just under £5m, in Chelsea, Notting Hill, Kensington and Marylebone, and is more in line with purchases prior to the 2008 financial crisis.
Plans by Egham, Surrey-based Ford Motors to close two British engineering sites could put up to 350 jobs at risk. The automotive giant will close the Ford Motor Company Engineering Limited sites in Essex and Warwickshire in an effort to save money and restructure the business. The Unite union has described the plans as “devastating news” and will look to consult with members and attempt to save as many jobs as possible
