Due to the recent Los Angeles wildfires, the release of the Duchess of Sussex’s new Netflix show has been postponed until March, according to the streaming giant. The lifestyle series, entitled With Love, Meghan, was filmed in southern California and was originally set to premiere on Wednesday, but in light of the ongoing devastation caused by the wildfires which have killed 16 people and forced hundreds of thousands out of their homes, it was decided that it would be best to postpone the release. Netflix has offered its “full support” to Meghan’s request to delay the release of the show.
In a statement, Netflix said that With Love, Meghan was a “heartfelt tribute to the beauty of Southern California”, however, they stated that the premier was being moved due to the fire. The Duchess thanked Netflix for supporting her in delaying the launch of the show as they focused on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in her home state. The eight 30-minute episodes were filmed in the southern California town of Montecito and is now set to air on March 4th.
The show includes appearances from other celebrities such as actress Mindy Kaling and former Suits star Abigail Spencer. The trailer released earlier this month demonstrated Meghan garnishing a cake with raspberries and harvesting honey in California, where she currently resides with her husband, Prince Harry, and two children. On Friday, the couple was seen embracing residents in the area of Pasadena, which had been devastated by the worst wildfires seen in Los Angeles.
Ultimately, the needs of the people who have lost so much must come first, and the postponement of the show is a reflection of the spirit of unity and solidarity that has been shown by so many in the wake of the California wildfires
