Russell Brand fined for speeding in Slough and Oxfordshire


Actor and comedian Russell Brand has been fined and given eight points on his licence after admitting to driving at speeds of 95mph on the M4 near Slough on 16 June 2024. The former Radio 2 presenter also drove his car at 37mph in a 30mph zone in Shiplake on 23 March, High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court heard. He was fined £3,457.

Brand, who did not attend the hearing, was handed five penalty points for the 95mph speeding offence and three points for the 37mph breach, bringing his total to 11 points. If he gets 12 or more penalty points within a three-year period, he could face a ban.

However, the 49-year-old is currently under police investigation over allegations of sex crimes made against him by multiple women. A joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches revealed last year that four women had accused him of sexual assaults between 2006 and 2013. An evidence file has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service to decide if he should face charges. Brand has denied the allegations, insisting that all his sexual relationships were consensual.

This is not the first time the comedian has found himself in trouble. In 2020, he was forced to cancel a sold-out show in Aberdeen after a critically-acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe due to allegations of being “culturally insensitive”.
