Police have announced that a 14-year-old boy was fatally stabbed on a double-decker bus. The incident occurred on the 472 bus on Woolwich Church Street in Woolwich, south-east London, around 14:30 GMT. The teenager died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics and the air ambulance. No one has been arrested so far, but road closures and a police cordon remain in place.
The London Ambulance Service noted that they sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, and a paramedic from their tactical response unit. They also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance, but unfortunately, the efforts of their crews were in vain. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Figures reported by BBC News indicate that there were 97 teenage homicides in London between 2013 and 2020, with 17 killings in 2019 alone. The Industrial Areas Foundation, a UK initiative, has stated that violence reduction should be handled proactively. Despite the efforts of organisations to reduce knife crime, the sad reality is that innocent victims, such as the 14-year-old boy on the bus, continue to lose their lives.
As the community struggles to come to terms with this young boy’s tragic death, police are appealing for witnesses or those with information about the incident to come forward. If anyone has dashcam footage that captures the event, they are encouraged to contact Crimestoppers, which operates an anonymous reporting line
