RuPaul's Drag Race UK star The Vivienne dies aged 32

The Vivienne, born James Lee Williams, has passed away at the age of 32, according to their publicist Simon Jones. The drag queen won the first season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK in 2019 and was described by Jones as “an incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person.” At this time, no further information has been released as Jones has requested privacy for The Vivienne’s family.

Upon hearing the news of The Vivienne’s death, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK judge, Michelle Visage, expressed her heartbreak on social media stating, “I don’t have the words. Utterly heartbroken.” Fellow Drag Race UK star, Bimini Bon Boulash, posted a message of shock on Instagram while Cheryl The Queen, who competed on the same season as The Vivienne under the name Cheryl Hole, shared the statement on her own Instagram, writing, “I will love you forever Viv.”

Jones shared that he never wanted to have to write such words, saying, “No one has ever made me laugh in my life as much as Viv did. Their comic genius and quick wit was like no other. I’m so proud and lucky that Viv was such a big part of my life every day for the last 5 years.”
