Man arrested over death in alleged hit and run in Paisley


Police Scotland have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Paisley on Hogmanay that left 70-year-old Elizabeth Kennedy dead. Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on Barrhead Road near the junction with Ladykirk Crescent on 31 December at approximately 7:00 pm. The driver of a white car, alleged to have been involved in the collision, fled the scene of the incident after Kennedy’s death. 

An arrest has now been made as part of the investigation into the incident. The 18-year-old man in question has been released pending further inquiries, although no further details have been released by the police. 

This very incident raises concerns about traffic safety and potential measures that could be put in place to make roads safer. While hit-and-run incidents are unfortunately common, it is vital that those responsible are identified and punished. Such incidents have far-reaching effects on the family, friends, and loved ones of those affected, highlighting the need for appropriate measures to be implemented to prevent them from occurring.
