Two teenagers killed in East Yorkshire two-car crash


Two teenagers have lost their lives and multiple other individuals were injured in a car collision on New Year’s Day in East Yorkshire. The accident, which involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Vauxhall Grandland, occurred at around 01:20 GMT on Staithes Road near Preston. Authorities have stated that a 16-year-old boy passed away at the scene, while an 18-year-old man died later in hospital. Two other passengers in the VW, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, and an elderly male passenger in the Vauxhall sustained life-threatening injuries.

A 34-year-old woman driving the Vauxhall sustained a serious arm injury, and two other passengers had minor injuries. The age of the VW driver has not been disclosed by police but is known to have only suffered minor injuries. Officers informed the families of the deceased and the injured, who are now receiving assistance from expertly trained professionals.
