Myleene Klass: 'Miscarriage is not dark secret to hide' singer says as she is made MBE

Myleene Klass has been named an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2022 New Year Honours for her services to women’s health, miscarriage awareness and charity. A former member of the pop band Hear’Say, Klass has been open about the impact of suffering four miscarriages on her mental health. She has actively backed changes to the Women’s Health Strategy in Parliament, which is focused on delivering better care and support to pregnant women. Additionally, she has supported new measures announced in 2021 by the Department of Health and Social Care to boost the health and wellbeing of women and girls.

Klass’ documentary “Miscarriage and Me” was nominated for a BAFTA. It explored the psychological effects of baby loss on women and their families. Klass stated that the topic of miscarriage should be discussed openly and not kept hidden. She believes that women, and their families, should have the support they need to cope with the trauma of losing a child.

The musician and TV presenter was “utterly shocked” by her recognition and stated it was a “very special moment”. She feels that her appointment as an MBE is recognition that she has used her platform to make a positive change. She is determined that the campaign won’t stop until every woman and family has the support they need
