A murder charge has been levelled against a woman who has been accused of killing a man at a house on Christmas Day in Staffordshire. On Wednesday morning, Louis Price, a father of six children, was found at a home in Norton Canes, experiencing cardiac arrest at around 3:30 GMT. Despite attempts at medical intervention, he died at the scene. Kirsty Carless, 33, from Cannock, has been arrested and is the main suspect in the investigation. She appeared at North Staffordshire Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and has been remanded in custody.
Prior to the murder charge, Staffordshire police had already referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct after Louis Price’s death, due to recent police contact. Friends and family members have described Price as “a well-known member of the community who always had a smile on his face.” He was a passionate fisherman as well as a lifelong supporter of Aston Villa Football Club. Louis Price was survived by two sons and four daughters, who were said to love their father deeply. The family urged people not to speculate about the tragedy.
Staffordshire police have requested that people come forward with any information they may have about the case or provide footage from CCTV, doorbell cams, or dashcams that could help with the investigation. Kirsty Carless is scheduled to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday.
