Jazwell Brown, 49, has been charged with two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, possessing a knife, and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, following the suspected stabbing of two women on Christmas Day. The victims, Joanne Pearson, 38, and Teohna Grant, 24, were found by police in Santa Cruz Avenue, Bletchley, Milton Keynes and pronounced dead at the scene. Brown, who resides on Santa Cruz Avenue, is due to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Thames Valley Police reported one man in his late 20s and a teenage boy were also taken to hospital with serious injuries. The force confirmed both women were from Milton Keynes and that the injured man and boy were in a stable condition. Additionally, it was discovered the injured dog, originally believed to have died, had survived. Brown is currently in custody.
The community of Newton Leys, where the block of flats is situated, have been deeply affected by the incident. Residents have laid flowers and tributes beside the scene. Sophie Pritchard told the BBC that “it’s just awful what’s happened, tragic… something like this shouldn’t be happening anywhere”, while Ed Hume, a Milton Keynes city councillor, said: “It’s a close knit community that looks out for each other and I know it is shocked and saddened.”
