Murder investigation after death of two women in Milton Keynes

A suspected stabbing incident has led to the death of two women in Milton Keynes. The police found the women, aged 24 and 38, and a teenage boy and a man with serious injuries at a block of flats on Christmas Day. The man and boy were rushed to the hospital and are reported to be in a stable condition. A dog also received injuries and died after being taken to a vet. A 49-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. The murder investigation is under way by the Thames Valley Police, who confirmed that the parties were known to each other.

The incident took place at Santa Cruz Avenue, Bletchley. Det Ch Insp Stuart Brangwin of the major crime unit said, “Firstly I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the families of the women who have tragically died in this shocking incident.” Detective Brangwin added that the police officers will be present at the scene during the investigation and will help members of the public who would like to approach them with any questions or concerns.

The police were called after reports of a disturbance in the area. Neighbours expressed shock and sadness over the incident, which happened on Christmas Day. Initial findings suggest that it was not a random attack, and there was some history between the parties. The incident underscores the danger that households have faced during the pandemic as the stay-at-home orders screened many people who suffered from domestic violence and other forms of abuse. The pandemic has been challenging as it has resulted in an increase in abuse cases where victims may not be getting the help they need due to the lack of reporting.

The tragedy has not been an isolated incident as violence and crime rates have overall increased in the country over the last year. The government has increased police numbers and funding but to little avail as many believe that the root cause of violence and crime are social problems and cannot be solved by decrees alone. The residents of Milton Keynes hope the police will get to the bottom of the case and find justice for the victims and their families
