Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that two men have died following a collision involving two lorries. The incident occurred near the Snitterby junction on the A15 north of Caenby Corner. The men were identified as hailing from Barnsley and Cleethorpes. According to Lincolnshire Police, the accident involved a Scania and Volvo lorry. Witnesses or anyone in possession of dashcam footage of the accident have been urged to contact police. The road continues to be closed as investigations continue.
Initially, officials stated that a car was also part of the accident, but they have since released a statement clarifying that only the two lorries were involved. A statement by Lincolnshire Police stated that “Sadly, the drivers of both lorries were pronounced dead at the scene.” It has not yet been revealed what caused the accident. It is expected that the road will remain closed for a considerable period as investigations continue.
In a statement, Lincolnshire Police reiterated the urgency for witnesses to come forward. The statement reads “We would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or has dashcam footage. The road remains closed and is likely to be closed for some time to allow for the investigation of the collision. We would like to thank motorists affected by the closure for their ongoing patience and understanding and urge them to continue to avoid the area if possible.”
As well as from Lincolnshire Police, several other emergency services responded to the incident, including Fire and Rescue Services and East Midlands Ambulance Service. For the moment, local authorities have advised drivers to take alternative routes
