Jordan North rescued from River Thames after saving dog

Capital FM radio host Jordan North was rescued from the River Thames after jumping into the water to save a struggling dog near Hammersmith Bridge in west London on Monday at 5:05 pm GMT. The rescue team from Chiswick RNLI found North and the dog perched on a nearby float. Members of the public assisted by shining their phone torches to help the RNLI locate him.

RNLI Thames commander Gavin Simmons applauded North’s bravery and clarified that they will assist anyone on the water in distress, be it humans or animal; Simmons also stated that the RNLI service is accessible 24/7 365 days of the year.

North showered appreciation on RNLI Chiswick for the swift rescue, saying, “The real heroes here are the RNLI who came out and got me, put a blanket round me. They’re the heroes.” North expressed gratitude on-air to his listeners in the morning show. A co-presenter hailed North as a “hero”, but he humbly dismissed it, stating that the true heroes were the RNLI rescuers.
