Amy Dowden to return to Strictly Come Dancing for live tour

Amy Dowden, one of the professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing, will take part in the live tour after withdrawing from the competition in November due to an injury. Dowden had been heartbroken to pull out due to an insufficiency stress fracture on her shin. However, she will now be performing alongside JB Gill, as well as with Lauren Oakley, who replaced her during the event. Several other contestants participated during the tour, including 2024 finalist Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Skorjanec. The final show is scheduled for London on February 9.

Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood, and Motsi Mabuse will join the tour as judges. Janette Manrara, the host of It Takes Two, will return as a host. Dowden, who previously contracted breast cancer, underwent treatment for stage-three breast cancer in 2023, but she announced in February that testing confirmed she had no signs of disease. Dancers Dianne Buswell, Karen Hauer, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Jowita Przystal, Robbie Kmetoni and Jake Leigh will also perform.

Actor and singer Shayne Ward will appear, dancing alongside professional dancer Nancy Xu. Professional dancer Michelle Tsiakkas and Eastenders star Jamie Borthwick will dance together, while Katya Jones will perform alongside opera singer Wynne Evans. Olympian Montell Douglas, who recently won bronze in the women’s bobsleigh at the Beijing Winter Olympics, will dance alongside Kai Widdrington. The tour commences on 17 January at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena and runs throughout Sheffield, Newcastle, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, and Nottingham.

Manrara claimed that it was an incredible line-up of couples, and the arena audiences were in for a real treat. She is excited to be back with all the pros and, as an extra special treat, joyfully welcomed back Dowden. Comedian Chris McCausland, who won this year’s Strictly and was the first blind contestant to take part, will not appear on the tour due to scheduling conflicts with his stand-up shows
