Alex Yee: Olympic triathlon champion set for 2025 London Marathon

Alex Yee, the world and Olympic triathlon champion from Great Britain, has announced that he will take part in the 2025 London Marathon. The 26-year-old athlete secured four Olympic triathlon medals, including an individual gold and a mixed relay bronze in Paris 2024.

The London-born sportsman, who previously represented his country in track and cross country, will compete in a marathon race for the first time in his career on Sunday, 27 April. Yee said that committing to the London Marathon was an easy decision, with the event having created many fond memories for him. He has run in the Mini London Marathon five times and said that he always intended to try his hand at the full marathon distance.

While announcing his decision, Yee expressed his eagerness to start this new chapter of his sporting career and added that he couldn’t think of any better place than London to initiate it. Yee emerged victorious last August by making a comeback and overhauling New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde in the closing stages in Paris. He followed that up by winning the world title in October by finishing third in the final in Spain.

Fans will look forward to watching Yee make his debut in the 2025 London Marathon, which has been a highly anticipated event for years. The marathon will test Yee’s endurance, stamina, and physical ability, while also providing an avenue for him to hone his skills as one of the world’s greatest athletes
