Comic Duncan Norvelle, famed for 'chase me' catchprase, dies at 66


British comedian Duncan Norvelle has passed away at the age of 66, as announced by his agent. His catchphrase “Chase me” led him to become a well-known face on British television during the 1980s and he appeared on programmes such as Surprise Surprise, Wogan, and the Keith Harris Show. He was recently seen in a Come Dine with Me special and Pointless Celebrities. The comedian rose to fame on the ITV show Saturday Royal in the early 80s.

In a statement released by his management team, Norvelle was described as “a comedy genius and British icon ahead of his time who loved showbusiness.” It was added that the team also considered him their good friend and he would be missed in the entertainment industry. Norvelle was born in Leicestershire and later released his album Music From My Life, which was re-released by his management team.

According to a post on his Facebook page, Norvelle passed away peacefully at 8:15 a.m with his daughter and partner Lynn by his side. The post went on to say that Norvelle was loved and “will be so very missed.” Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

Tributes have been pouring in from fellow comedians including Jim Davidson and Jimmy Cricket, who described Norvelle as “a charismatic performer who thrilled audiences up and down the country with his style of humour and hilarious impressions.” Norvelle suffered a stroke in 2012 and was hospitalised two weeks before his death
