New Gavin and Stacey photos released ahead of Christmas special

The final episode of Gavin and Stacey is set to air on Christmas Day, and new images have been released ahead of the much-anticipated finale. In one image, James Corden is seen as his character Smithy, alongside Ruth Jones as Nessa, Mathew Horne as Gavin, and Joanna Page as Stacey, all posing on Trinity Street in Barry. Meanwhile, other images showcase Gwen and Uncle Bryn clambering into Bryn’s car alongside Gavin, Stacey, and Nessa.

The final episode of the sitcom is set five years after Nessa went down on one knee and asked Smithy to marry her in the 2019 Christmas special. The upcoming episode will pick up from there, and Pam and Mick will be the ones hosting the gathering this time around. In the episode synopsis, it says that Pam will be stressing out over playing the hostess, while Mick will be busy practising his golf swings inside the house.

Containing both promo images and photos from the episode itself, the newly released pictures also offer a glimpse behind the scenes, with some of the show’s stars seen getting their makeup done while filming on Trinity Street. Fans are sure to be excited to tune in on Christmas Day, for what promises to be an emotional and long-awaited send-off to the series that stole hearts all over Britain.

Despite the fact that the final episode was announced earlier this year, details of the plot have been kept under tight wraps, making the new photos a welcome sneak peek. It has also been revealed that Bryn will be trying out limbo at the gathering, suggesting that there will be plenty of laughs and lighthearted moments to lighten the mood.

It remains to be seen what the outcome of Nessa’s proposal will be, but with the episode set to air on BBC One on Christmas Day, audiences won’t have long to wait to find out. Fans of the show have been eagerly anticipating the finale since the series returned for a one-off Christmas special last year, and the show’s creators have been keen to ensure that the final episode is everything the fans have been hoping for
