The beloved duo of Wallace and Gromit made a surprise appearance on the reality show Strictly Come Dancing, much to the delight of co-host Claudia Winkleman who called it “the single best thing that’s ever happened to me.” Via video link, Gromit and Wallace presented the terms and conditions for fans to vote for their favorite celebrity dancer. Winkleman initially caught up with Gromit alone since Wallace was still in the shower, but he made his way to the studio with added flair such as a large sparkling bow tie.
Gromit was forced to cover Wallace in their home studio. Sporting a silvery disco ball, a glitzy purple rainbow backdrop, and his very own cup o’ cha cha cha, Gromit played a practice tape of Wallace reading out the voting terms. Soon, Wallace entered the room and took over, despite encountering his typical misfortune where his seat dropped down midway through reading the instructions. Wishing good luck to all participating contestants, Wallace held out a thumbs up as Gromit gave out a score of 7.
Wallace and Gromit will be appearing in the latest Aardman production, Vengeance Most Fowl, which airs on BBC One on Christmas Day. The stop-motion film by Aardman Animations will feature the return of their villainous penguin sidekick Feathers McGraw, who first appeared in The Wrong Trousers in 1993, as he seeks revenge on the iconic duo. The film can also be enjoyed on BBC iPlayer.
This appearance marks a continuation of the endearing legacy of Wallace and Gromit, one of the UK’s most well-known animations, created by Aardman Animations. The beloved duo has won hearts everywhere after first appearing in A Grand Day Out in 1989
