Star Wars fan from Swindon sells toy collection after job loss

A range of Star Wars merchandise once belonging to a man who changed his name to Luke Skywalker has been sold off after he lost his job. The collection included a number of signed items from the famed franchise, along with life-sized models of the cast and creatures which featured in the films. The full-scale replicas of well-known Star Wars robots, R2D2 and C3PO, a battle droid from the prequel trilogy, lightsabers, a variety of Storm Trooper helmets and blasters were all included in the sale. The auction was held at Wessex Auction Rooms in Chippenham and was described as “extremely unique”.

Mr Skywalker revealed that he decided to part with his collection in a bid to save his finances. Speaking about his decision, he said “I need to survive. Among the huge number of bidders was Tim Weeks, auctioneer at Wessex Auction Rooms and a Bargain Hunt specialist. He commented that there were over 500 bidders participating from around the world. “It’s great as an auctioneer to see the Star Wars is so popular and alive again” he added. Skywalker remained upbeat about the situation “I’m very happy with the outcome”, he explained. It’s not known how much the collection was sold for.

The sale was not limited to just Star Wars memorabilia, with items from other films and franchises, including Terminator and Star Trek, also up for grabs. The auction itself was hugely attended, with a full room and online interest
