A young British man has died while on holiday in Turkey after being found in a lift shaft on the morning of Friday 30 April. Tyler Kerry, aged 20 from Essex, was described by his family as “a young man full of personality, kindness and compassion with his whole life ahead of him.” Sources say that Kerry was staying at a hotel near Lara Beach, Antalya, with his girlfriend, grandparents, and other relatives when the incident occurred.
Kerry’s great-uncle, Alex Price, said that he was alerted to his nephew’s disappearance and contacted Kerry’s brother, Mason, and cousin, Nathan, to search for the young man. Kerry was reportedly found at the bottom of the lift shaft at 7 a.m. local time. An emergency ambulance team tried to revive the young Brit but their efforts were unsuccessful. It is not currently known how Kerry ended up inside the lift shaft.
A spokeswoman from the UK government has confirmed that the government is supporting Kerry’s family with arrangements following his death. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the Kerry family cover the costs of their son’s funeral. Over £4,500 has already been raised through the campaign.
After a post-mortem examination, Kerry’s family was issued with a death certificate. They expect to bring Kerry’s body back to the UK on Tuesday 4 May. In a statement on the GoFundMe page, Kerry’s great uncle said the family was “completely devastated” by the loss of their beloved relative. He thanked people for their “kindness and consideration” during this difficult time
