Police have confirmed that an eight-year-old girl and a 34-year-old man have been seriously injured in a shooting. The incident occurred on Sunday at around 5:30 pm on Southern Row in Ladbroke Grove. Both victims have been taken to hospital and the girl is currently in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries. However, the condition of the man remains unknown. A 32-year-old woman was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
Supt Owen Renowden has appealed for witnesses as there have been no arrests made and inquiries are ongoing. The incident has been described by Renowden as “an appalling incident”. The London Ambulance Service arrived within six minutes, treated two patients at the scene and then took them to a major trauma centre.
In August, a 15-year-old teenager was shot dead during a pre-carnival event just two streets away from the location of this recent shooting. This makes the incident all the more concerning. Detectives are, therefore, keen to hear from anyone with information about what happened, “no matter how insignificant”.
The police are yet to provide any further details about the shooting or the possible motive. However, with two serious injuries, the incident is being taken very seriously and the police will undoubtedly be working tirelessly to piece together information and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice
