Bradford’s success allowed her to indulge in her love of the finer things in life. She became a collector of rare books, dolls and antiques, and filled her London home with art – including works by Matisse and Picasso – and exquisite jewellery.

She also travelled extensively, often taking private jets and staying in five-star hotels. But there was always work to be done. Despite her success, Bradford remained ever-disciplined and hard-working, dedicating herself to her writing and promoting her work.

“I’m very grateful but I don’t take it for granted,” she said in a 2019 interview. “I want to keep doing good work… I just want to keep writing and see what happens.”
