Newspapers in the UK have reported on polls suggesting most people support assisted dying. The subject returns to Parliament this week, with a debate taking place on Thursday. The Sunday Times reports that its poll shows that 65% would support a law allowing assisted dying, with just 13% opposing it. The survey, of over 17,000 people, discovered that those who had lost a recent parent were 18 points more likely to back assisted dying. Baroness Meacher said the only way for people to exercise their right to die is to legalise assisted dying and that it would be “indefensible” for MPs to ignore the electorate’s wishes.

Speaking at a NATO conference tomorrow, Pat McFadden will tell the alliance that the Kremlin is trying to weaken their support for Ukraine, with President Putin ready and able to order a “destabilising and debilitating” electronic attack.
