Donald Trump impersonator in demand after US election

A Southampton-based comedian who impersonates Donald Trump has said he has been inundated with requests since the announcement of the 2024 US Presidential election results. Mike Osman, who began impersonating the Republican Party’s incumbent President back in 2016, had almost considered retiring his wig and fake tan until the news inspired him to carry on. After launching his act in 2016, he now claims to be the UK’s top Trump impersonator.

Osman, who goes by the name ‘Donald Trumped’ and has over 16 million views on TikTok, spends hours perfecting his look to match Trump’s signature style such as his suit and crimson tie. He even admitted to his neighbour, a seamstress, making his almost eight-foot long tie to complete his look. The comedian, who has a southern English accent, said perfecting the hairpiece made his character instantly recognisable. It was created by wig designers and is regularly maintained by a hairdresser.

Despite perfecting the visual look of the character, Osman said the key to his convincing Trump impersonation is replicating his eyes and mouth. “I have watched a lot of videos of Donald, believe me”, he admitted. Following the news of Donald Trump’s success in this year’s election, Osman found his act in high demand. Although he claims not to have any political affiliations, he said his impression is not divisive as “the American people have decided”.

Speaking about his humble beginnings, Osman said he grew up in a Southampton suburb council estate in Millbrook. He expressed gratitude for how far he has come, saying “if you’d have said to me when I was growing up in Millbrook that I would be the top five in the world at anything, you know, I’d have taken that”. Trump will take the office in January as America’s President-elect, and Mike Osman’s Donald Trump impression will continue to gain attention
