Kensington Palace has announced that the Princess of Wales will host a Christmas carol service for families affected by the Southport attacks. Over 1,600 invited guests will attend the fourth Together At Christmas service at Westminster Abbey on 6 December. This comes after Catherine was diagnosed with cancer and had to withdraw from her public duties earlier this year.

This year’s carol service, which is supported by the Royal Foundation, is set to honour people who have shown support and empathy to local communities in need. Invited guests were nominated by charities associated with the Royal Family or lord lieutenants who represent the king in various counties. The event will also feature musical performances by stars such as Olivia Dean, Gregory Porter and Paloma Faith, and will be broadcast on ITV1.
Fifteen Together at Christmas services will take place across the country including at Blackpool Tower Circus and the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. Kensington Palace said that the princess wanted to celebrate people supporting those in need, who have inspired, counselled, comforted and shown how greatly needed love and empathy is, especially in the most difficult times in our lives. “The service will provide a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives,” the palace said
