Firefighters in Clevedon, Somerset, were called out on Saturday after a domestic cat got stuck in a garage drainpipe. The female, named John, had to be rescued, with small tools used to cut part of the pipe. She was transported to a local vet to have the remainder of the stuck pipe safely removed. No serious injury was found and John was returned to her family to recover.
Avon Fire and Rescue officials confirmed that the cat was unharmed. They also added that to minimize distress and provide the easiest rescue, it was necessary to cut a section of the pipe out with John in situ. Afterward, John was transported sedated to be given further medical attention and luckily found not to have sustained any injuries seriously. Veterinary staff assessed her and were able to discharge her after ensuring she was in good health.
