The front pages of UK newspapers have been dominated by a mix of stories on Thursday. The Mirror, along with The Metro, led with the headline “farewell, Liam” in honor of former One Direction star Liam Payne. The Sun chose a similar theme, using the headline “All For One” along with photos of Payne’s former bandmates and ex-partner Cheryl. Finally, the Daily Star has claimed that thousands of Britons are seeking to purchase nuclear bunkers worth £150,000 each in the event of World War III.
Elsewhere in the news, the Telegraph has revealed that the UK military is to face £500 million in cuts. Writing for the paper, ex-defense secretary Ben Wallace warned that the cuts would signal to adversaries that the nation’s defenses are weakening. The i also covered the Ukraine story, again reporting on the country’s use of UK-supplied missiles on Russian targets. And the FT included a story on Ford’s job cuts, as well as Ukraine’s attack on Russia.

However, the promise of a nuclear bunker for those who can afford it shows that not everyone is giving up hope for the future
