An ex-Wales footballer, Natasha Harding, has been urged by the chair of a grassroots football club to part ways with Manchester City Women FC. Harding is facing allegations of taking money from her academy that she did not repay. Reports have been made to the police in England and Wales, and Action Fraud is investigating at least one allegation. Harding formerly played for Manchester City Women FC and now works as a presenter and pundit during the football games. She was formerly employed by Manchester City Women FC in a freelance capacity until recently.
According to Steve Lloyd, who chairs a grassroots football club, Manchester City has a “moral and ethical duty” to sever ties with Harding. Lloyd alleges losing £650 in investment made in the Tash Harding Academy and has accused the football club of ignoring what has been happening. In addition to Steve, another parent has made similar claims, saying they had requested a refund for one-to-one coaching sessions, which they did not receive.
Harding has apologised to those affected by her alleged actions, stating she had to cancel some sessions due to circumstances beyond her control. As a former Wales international, her alleged actions would create a moral dilemma for Manchester City Women FC, as they are regarded as one of the significant supporters of the girls’ and women’s football game.
Harding, who has won 103 caps for Wales and formerly played for Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Reading, said she set up the academy to provide low-cost detailed technical coaching, offering children the opportunities that she never had. She confirmed that she was still operating the academy and delivering local sessions. Manchester City Football Club made no comments
