Harshita Brella murder: CCTV shows her walking with husband

Police investigating the murder of Harshita Brella, 24, have released CCTV footage showing her and her husband, Pankaj Lamba, 23, walking together near Corby Boating Lake in Northamptonshire. The footage was taken on 10 November, the night police believe Brella was killed, and Lamba is being treated as a prime suspect. Brella’s body was found in the boot of a car in Ilford, east London on 14 November, and she had been the subject of domestic violence protection orders in the months before her death.

The inquiry has led to searches in the area surrounding the boating lake. The investigation into domestic abuse allegations against Lamba, made by Brella in August, is to be reviewed. Northamptonshire Police is referring itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. Brella was placed in refuge and visited by police in relation to the investigation, while the alleged perpetrator was identified, arrested, and bailed. A domestic homicide review is to be conducted to assess whether there are any lessons to be learned.

Previously, police had released images of Lamba in the Ilford area following the discovery of Brella’s body and appealed for information from anyone who may have interacted with him. After officers visited Brella’s home on Skegness Walk, Corby, on 13 November over concerns for her welfare, a missing person investigation was launched. A post-mortem later found she had been strangled. Police have appealed for anyone who was in Corby on Sunday, 10 November, between 18:00 and 21:00, and who may have information to contact them
