Police in the UK are searching for Pankaj Lamba, the husband of Harshita Brella, whose body was found in the boot of a car in Ilford, east London. Ms Brella, from Corby, Northamptonshire, was found dead after concerns were raised for her welfare. Police believe Lamba murdered her and transported her body to London in a vehicle earlier this month.
Officers have said that they believe Lamba may have fled the country following the murder. More than 60 detectives are working on the case and are following numerous lines of inquiry. The East Midlands Special Operations Major Crime Unit and Northamptonshire Police are working alongside the Metropolitan Police to discover the circumstances behind Ms Brella’s death.
Additional neighbourhood officer patrols will be introduced in Corby in the coming days for public reassurance. Ch Insp Paul Cash from Northamptonshire Police, said: “I urge anyone listening to or reading this statement, that if you saw anything suspicious in the past week or have any information, no matter how small, please contact us.”
It was reported earlier this month that Ms Brella had a domestic violence protection order in place against her husband. Police have stated that there had been previous contact with Ms Brella and have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
“The whole incident is absolutely tragic,” said Ch Insp Cash, who described Ms Brella as a young woman with her whole life ahead of her. A forensic post-mortem examination has concluded that Ms Brella was murdered
