Ex-Met Police officer David Carrick denies multiple sex offences

A man who once served as a Metropolitan Police officer has pleaded not guilty to eight charges of sex offences committed against a woman and a girl. David Carrick is facing two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of coercive and controlling behaviour with regards to a woman from 2014 to 2019. Additionally, he is charged with five counts of indecent assault against a girl under the age of 16 from 1989 to 1990 when he was still a teenager. His trial date for these charges is scheduled for November 3rd, 2025.

The former firearms officer, who hails from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, previously appeared via video link at the Old Bailey and entered a not guilty plea for each of the charges against him. Prior to his appearance at the central London court, Carrick had participated in a video hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where he solely confirmed his name and age. During his tenure with the Metropolitan Police, Carrick served in the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command.

As a precursor to his trial, a preliminary hearing is due to take place on March 14th, 2025, at the Old Bailey. Carrick, who is currently fifty years old, will face the court again on that date.

Prosecutors from the Crown Prosecution Service have yet to comment on the case. The charges against Carrick are particularly serious and carry significant sentences if he is found guilty. It remains to be seen whether Carrick will opt to plead guilty to any of the charges before his trial begins
