Queen Camilla to return to public duties after chest infection


Following a chest infection, Queen Camilla will be returning to public duties on Tuesday. Although she will attend events in London this week, some changes have been made to her schedule, and she will be present for shorter periods than originally planned. The monarch missed Remembrance Sunday events at the weekend, after doctors advised her to rest. However, there is no need to worry, and the alterations have been made to ensure a smooth recovery.

On Tuesday, the Queen will attend a reception at Clarence House to celebrate the authors shortlisted for this year’s Booker Prize. However, her attendance will be limited and she will only be present for a brief period. She will also make an appearance at a Palace reception with the King on Wednesday to celebrate the TV and film industry but will not be present for the event’s entirety. Meanwhile, the King will attend all events as planned, including the premiere of the highly-anticipated Gladiator II on Wednesday evening.

The Queen was diagnosed with a chest infection just under a week after she returned from a trip to Australia and Samoa with the King. The trip included a stopover in India on her way back. Buckingham Palace announced the infection last week, stating that “her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.”

It has been a challenging year for the royal family’s health. King Charles received a cancer diagnosis in February, although his treatment was paused during his overseas trip. Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales gradually returned to public duties following her cancer treatment earlier this year, and she recently made an appearance at a Remembrance concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall. This was her first formal appearance since she finished her chemotherapy treatment, and she also attended Remembrance Sunday events
