In a stabbing in south London, one person was killed and two others were injured, on Sunday. The Metropolitan Police were called to East Street in Walworth following reports of multiple people being stabbed at around 10:40 BST. On arrival, three injured people were found, with one man dying at the scene. The other two injured – a man and a woman – were admitted to the hospital for treatment. Their condition is as yet unknown. A man believed to be in his 60s was arrested at the scene.
Cdr Peter Stevens lamented the loss of life and stated that his thoughts were with the family of the deceased. He added that his officers were doing everything to find out precisely what had transpired and identify the individuals who were injured. “Nobody else is sought,” Stevens added, though the investigation is still ongoing.
Though the investigation is ongoing, the event is not being treated as an act of terrorism by detectives, the police said. The London police is attempting to identify the victim who died in the attack and inform the family members.
Local residents have expressed their shock at the incident and stated that the Walworth area had always been peaceful. Following the occurrence, many parents are now hesitant to send their children to school in the area because of their concerns about their safety.
