Milena Sanchez returns to podcasting after quitting The Receipts

Milena Sanchez shocked fans and co-hosts last year when she suddenly left her role on the popular podcast The Receipts after seven years. In an interview with BBC Newsbeat, Sanchez revealed that quitting was a difficult choice, but her mental health had deteriorated to the point where she couldn’t continue. In January, her former co-hosts, Audrey Indome and Tolani Shoneye, claimed they were blindsided by Sanchez’s decision to leave, while rumors circulated that she had been bullied and squeezed out of the group.

We had production, we had social media people, somebody that edited the podcasts. Now doing this solo, I’m doing everything myself. I’m a one-man band.”

Nevertheless, Sanchez says that since launching Milena’s Diary at the end of September, she has been “overwhelmed” by the response, which has reminded her that her voice is “very needed.” Reflecting on the past year, Sanchez says she feels “happier” and is proud of the decisions she has made. She wishes her former co-hosts the best and says they are doing well on The Receipts without her
