Humpback whale tangled in creel lines set free in Loch Fyne

The British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) came to the rescue of a humpback whale after it got ensnared in creel lines anchored to the seabed. This incident took place in Loch Fyne, which is a sea loch located off the Firth of Clyde. Eyewitnesses alerted the rescue team who immediately arrived on the scene to help the trapped animal.

The whale was entwined in the fishing equipment, which had wrapped around the animal’s body, head, and through its mouth. Underwater cameras captured the severity of the entanglement. The rescue team carefully released the creel lines that had trapped the whale by cutting them free. As soon as the whale was released, it swam away to freedom.

Incidents like these are becoming increasingly common as the fishing gear used is not always disposed of safely. The rescue teams have urged fishermen to be cautious and dispose of their fishing equipment cautiously, ensuring the safety of marine life.

Fortunately, this humpback whale was rescued in time by the BDMLR and managed to swim safely back into the deep waters of the sea. The BDMLR is a non-profit charitable organisation dedicated to the rescue of marine animals in distress around the coast of Britain. It provides a 24-hour service across different regions in the country. Their valiant efforts and commitment are commendable in protecting and saving the vast marine creatures
