Motorbike passenger, 18, dies after Bradford police pursuit crash

A young man has died following a high-speed police chase involving a motorcycle in the English city of Bradford. The 18-year-old was a passenger on the bike when it collided with a car on Harrogate Road on October 28. Police had been in pursuit of the motorcycle after the driver failed to stop for them shortly before the crash. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has confirmed that the man died from his injuries on November 6.

An IOPC spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, as well as all those affected by this tragic incident. IOPC investigators have begun the process of gathering and reviewing evidence as we work to determine the circumstances leading up to the incident on 28 October.” West Yorkshire Police has not commented on the incident.

Another man who was in control of the motorcycle at the time of the crash was also seriously injured. The pursuit was one of a number carried out by the police in Bradford targeting those who are believed to be involved with dangerous and illegal riding.

The death of the teenager has prompted calls for more measures to be taken to tackle illegal and dangerous driving in the area. In recent months, there has been growing concern about the level of danger posed by motorcyclists who ride dangerously and cause problems for other road users in Bradford and throughout West Yorkshire
