tion>The red Honda Civic car police believe may have been involved in Lindsay’s disappearance
In 2007, a previously unconsidered red Honda Civic car, with the registration number FYY 215W, became a fresh lead when police launched a new appeal for information.
A man had reported seeing the vehicle a month after Lindsay vanished.
But despite widespread coverage, no-one came forward with any useful information.
In 2016, a public bloodstain sprays appeal was launched as part of the investigation’s 22nd anniversary.
Police believe it may help lead to the person responsible.
At the time, Tony said: “Crimes do get solved many years later and even though we haven’t had a significant breakthrough, we remain hopeful that someone will come forward with information.”
The force also appealed for a man seen smoking outside the shop with a distinctive stoop to his shoulders, aged in his 30s or 40s, to come forward.

Twenty-seven years on, Tony admits he still regularly thinks about the “nice young girl” who disappeared.
He says: “I believe there is someone out there who knows what happened to Lindsay and after 27 years, they have got to be a mature adult now.
“It’s time to come forward and own up or allow the Rimer family, and especially Lindsay’s mum, to have some kind of closure.”
Geri, now in her 60s, recently told the BBC she still held out hope her daughter would be found alive and well but if not, that someone would be brought to justice.
“The person who took her life or knew about it is still walking about free. That’s wrong. They’ve got to be found and brought to book,” she said.
