Two of the four escaped raccoons from Amazon World on the Isle of Wight have been found. The first raccoon was found shortly before midnight on Friday in the zoo’s grounds, whilst the second was discovered on top of the zoo’s parrot perches on Saturday evening. The found raccoons will be placed in an enclosure away from the public along with their sibling that did not escape. The search had been scaled down during the daylight hours, as the raccoons are expected to go to sleep.
Five siblings, including the four escaped raccoons, arrived at Amazon World around three weeks ago. The zoo said in a Facebook post that it was “ecstatic” about finding the second raccoon and added that the remaining two would be found soon. The escaped raccoons remain in close proximity to the zoo, near Sandown, Isle of Wight.
