Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy in Marston Green, near Solihull. The victim was treated by ambulance staff on Station Road on Tuesday evening but died at the scene. Another 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody, according to West Midlands Police. Station Road remains closed as police conduct their investigation.
Superintendent Wayne Carter has urged anyone with information about the incident or concerns related to it to contact the police. He also confirmed that extra officers would be present in the area “over the coming days”. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward and said officers would be conducting inquiries throughout the day.
The death comes amid concern about knife crime in the UK, which has been on the rise in recent years. In 2020, there were over 46,000 recorded offenses involving a knife or sharp instrument in England and Wales, according to the Office for National Statistics.
