A coroner in Cheshire has concluded that two schools in the area could not have predicted the murder of Brianna Ghey by Scarlet Jenkinson and Eddie Radcliffe. The pair, both aged 15, were found guilty of Ghey’s murder in February of this year. The coroner found that while Jenkinson transferred to Birchwood High School from another school where she had “spiked” a younger student with cannabis-laced sweets, there had been no indication that she was planning to murder Ghey. Similarly, despite Ghey’s personal issues, including her autism and history of self-harm, there was no visible sign that she was at risk from Jenkinson.
Prior to the murder, Jenkinson had become obsessed with Ghey and began to plot her murder with Ratcliffe. Despite her misbehaviour in school, no-one could foresee her intentions.
