Lucy Letby loses bid to appeal against conviction


Lucy Letby, a convicted serial killer, has lost her bid to challenge her latest conviction for the attempted murder of a baby girl. Letby, a former nurse, was convicted in July 2021 of attempting to kill a newborn known only as Child K. She had already been found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six others between June 2015 and June 2016. Letby is serving 15 whole-life terms in jail, and an ongoing public inquiry is investigating how she was able to commit her crimes. Her lawyers had argued that her re-trial was unfair due to prejudicial media coverage from the original trial.

Letby’s bid to appeal against her conviction for attempted murder was dismissed by three senior judges at the Court of Appeal.
