After several weeks of searching, police have announced that a body has been found in the River Derwent in North Yorkshire, in the ongoing search for missing mother Victoria Taylor. The 34-year-old care home nurse went missing from her home in Malton on September 30th, with her disappearance prompting a massive police search operation. The discovery was made by an underwater search team, close to where Ms Taylor’s belongings were found. Formal identification is yet to take place, but the family have been informed.
Assistant Chief Constable Wayne Fox told reporters that Ms Taylor’s family had “again asked us to express their thanks to all of those who have supported police and other emergency services in our efforts to locate Victoria.” Mr Fox added that Ms Taylor’s family was “understandably distressed” by the finding.
In a statement released through police a week ago, Ms Taylor’s sisters, Emma and Heidi, thanked the local community who had contributed to the search, including those that had put up posters and carried out daily walks. They expressed their gratitude to the wider community on Facebook, with over 10,000 people sharing Vixx’s information and sending support.
The search for Ms Taylor had involved the use of divers and specialist sonar equipment, with police saying just over a week ago that there was a “significant possibility” she had entered the river. Police have not revealed any more information at this stage, with formal identification of the body yet to take place
