Man arrested in Brantham dog walker murder case


A man has been taken into custody under suspicion of murder after the death of a dog walker in Suffolk. Anita Rose, aged 57, was discovered severely injured by a member of the public whilst walking her dog in Brantham on July 24th, dying from her injuries four days later in hospital. A 55-year-old man has been detained in Ipswich, with detectives stating that three other persons have previously been arrested over the incident.

Suffolk Police have appealed to the public for any further information over the events of July 24th, whilst Crimestoppers has offered a £20,000 reward for any information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of those involved in Rose’s death. Villagers in the area have reported a heightened police presence and use of police dogs and a helicopter in Brantham, prompting speculation of a breakthrough in the case.

Rose had left her home with her dog at 5am before being found unconscious nearby at 6:25am by a cyclist close to the Anglian Water sewage works and railway line off Rectory Lane. Specialist teams are providing support to Rose’s family and keeping them updated on the investigation.

A Suffolk Police spokesperson has confirmed that the man arrested is currently being held at the Martlesham police investigation centre where he is being questioned. Officers have called for anyone who may possess further information about the case to come forward to the major investigation team
