Charli XCX's Brat finally tops chart as James Blunt misses out


Charli XCX’s album Brat has reached the top spot on the UK charts for the first time since its re-release as a remix album. The new remix album, titled Brat And It’s Completely Different But Also Still Brat features fresh versions of the album tracks, including appearances from Ariana Grande, Kesha, and The 1975. The original Brat had spent 19 weeks in the charts but only peaked at number two until this new update pushed it to the top.

James Blunt promised to legally change his name to “Blunty McBluntface” if a re-released version of his 2004 album, Back to Bedlam, made it to the number one position. Fortunately for Blunt, the album’s 20th-anniversary edition only made it to number seven in this week’s charts.

The Beautiful South’s former frontman Paul Heaton is currently sitting at number two with Sabrina Carpenter, Coldplay, and Chappell Roan are also in the top five. In terms of the singles chart, Carpenter made history by being the first artist to have spent 20 weeks at the number one spot in a single year since Frankie Laine in 1953. Carpenter’s Taste has remained in the number one spot for eight consecutive weeks and has become 2024’s longest-running number one single.

KSI, who is currently appearing as a guest judge on Britain’s Got Talent, has achieved his ninth top 10 single with Thick Of It, which has been the subject of much buzz from his supporters. He told the Official Charts company, “To all my fans, thank you so much. To all the haters – haha! Stay mad!
