MasterChef host Gregg Wallace has denied claims that he made inappropriate sexual comments to a female colleague. The Sun reported that Wallace was accused of taking his top off and discussing his sex life to a woman whilst they worked on Impossible Celebrities in 2018. Wallace denied making any sexual comments in an Instagram story published yesterday and said that an investigation had taken place at the time and found no evidence of wrongdoing.
A source claimed that Wallace had made “consistent inappropriate comments” to the unnamed female colleague and had been boasting about his sex life with his partner. BBC bosses were informed, according to The Sun. Wallace has not commented since the allegations, but his employer said that it has “robust processes” in place to investigate inappropriate behaviour.
Wallace is known as the co-presenter of the popular cooking show MasterChef. The BBC has faced several allegations this year of sexual misconduct by its presenters. Jermaine Jenas was sacked by the corporation in August following workplace conduct complaints. In March, the broadcaster’s former senior news presenter Huw Edwards received a suspended jail sentence after admitting he had child sex abuse images on his computer.
The BBC spokesperson emphasised that it “does not tolerate any form of inappropriate behaviour. If issues are raised they are dealt with swiftly and appropriately at the time.”
