The world of electronic dance music has lost one of its brightest stars. Scottish DJ and producer Jack Revill, popularly known as Jackmaster, died at the age of 38 in Ibiza. According to a statement released by his family, Revill sustained a head injury, which led to complications resulting in his untimely demise. The DJ’s family is said to be grief-stricken and has requested privacy as they deal with the loss.
Jackmaster was an acclaimed musician who performed globally at some of the most popular clubs and festivals. He was also a co-founder of Numbers, a record label of repute. Despite his success, Revill remained passionate about dance and often regretted how technology and social media have rendered it a lost art form. In a recent interview, he had lamented the decline of the clubbing scene and how few people come out to dance nowadays.
Revill’s death has been mourned by numerous fans and popular artists from the electronic dance music fraternity. An Instagram post from British electronic duo, Disclosure, expressed their heartbreak, describing Jack as a source of inspiration for them and saying that they could not believe the news. Another post on Jack’s Instagram page by electronic dance music duo CamelPhat paid tribute to Revill, highlighting his kind nature and decency, in a profession that can often be riddled with egos.
The world has lost one of the most promising DJs at a time when dance music is taking the global stage. Jack’s legacy will forever be remembered in the numerous tracks he produced and the inspiration he provided to countless aspiring artists.
