Following a warrant from Bedfordshire Police to arrest a man, the suspect was found by police officers hiding in the base of a sofa. The police arrived at the residence in Potton at roughly 07:20 BST to execute an arrest warrant.
When officers searched the property, it appeared that the man had left or hidden himself well. However, it was only when they decided to upend a large sofa that they found the suspect, who had been hiding in its base. A representative for Beds, Herts, and Bucks police quipped that “We thought the man would be more comfortable tucked into bed, so he’ll be spending the next few hours in a custody cell – a little less of a squeeze that way.” It was also stated that Bedfordshire police could not divulge any more information about the arrest, citing operational reasons.
Initially, the police had assumed that nothing was left to be found at the property apart from a friendly dog. However, upon a closer search by officers, the suspect was found to be tucked away into the base of his sofa, leading the representative for Beds, Herts, and Bucks police to say “We’ve seen some things in our time, but we must say this is a first.”
