Lucy Letby 'excited' to tell nurse baby had died, inquiry hears


During the Thirlwall Inquiry, a colleague of Lucy Letby shared how she had described the death of a baby in an “excited” and “gossipy” way. Melanie Taylor, who worked with Letby at the Countess of Chester Hospital’s neonatal unit, couldn’t remember the specific baby that Letby was talking about. However, she did recall the manner in which Letby had relayed the information. Inquired into how Letby was able to carry out her attacks, the inquiry is looking into her actions while working at the hospital between 2015 and 2016.

Rachel Langdale KC, who is acting as counsel to the inquiry, asked Taylor whether Letby’s behaviour was unusual or disrespectful.
