Carmarthen on-the-run drug dealer found in nurse fancy dress


After 16 months on the run, a drug dealer who changed her name has been caught wearing NHS scrubs and a “fancy dress” lanyard. Lynne Leyson, formerly of Carmarthen, fled her home after being found guilty of conspiring to supply Class A and B drugs, as well as possessing criminal property, in May 2023. An Interpol inquiry was conducted, along with social media investigations and the analysis of travel patterns, among other tactics, to track down the fugitive. When she eventually returned home, having been on the run for 429 days, Leyson was arrested. As a result of failing to turn herself in, she has received an additional two years on top of her original nine-year sentence.

Prosecuting barrister Ieuan Rees revealed that larger efforts have been made to track down Leyson, including releasing posters of the wanted woman and checking the border. Her actions that led to this situation were described as “deliberate and sophisticated” by Judge Catherine Richards, who addressed Leyson via videolink from Eastwood Park Prison. Leyson was initially convicted in May 2023, along with her partner and son but failed to attend her sentencing that July. Leyson, her partner, and their son used guns, knives, and dobermans to threaten villagers suspicious of the activities at the remote farm in Carmarthen.

The NHS lanyard and scrubs which Leyson was wearing when she was arrested have been given to the appropriate health board for a possible “internal inquiry,” according to Mr. Rees. Defense barrister Hwyel Davies stated that the NHS items were only for “fancy dress” and that Leyson had returned with the intention to turn herself in
